ABOUT THE ARC OF GREATER PRINCE WILLIAM/INSIGHT, INC.

Governing Body

The organization is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and is governed by a Board of Directors that meets monthly to discuss business and to determine policies. The Board employs an Executive Director to oversee and establish procedures regarding activites and programs of the Association. It is the Executive Director's responsibility to interpret the policies of the Board.

We are also affiliated with the Arc of the United States and the Arc of Virginia.

Vision

• That the dignity and rights of each person must be protected and promoted with the utmost care.
• That each person has value and should be given the opportunity to take part in community life as fully as he or she is capable.
• That each person should be given a choice of resources that will best meet their needs and maximize their potential.

Core Values

• Advocacy - Promote total community acceptance and awareness of individuals with developmental disabilities as contributing members of our society.
• Quality Services - Provide excellence in a variety of services.
• Integrity - Conduct all interactions with honesty and respect.
• Leadership - Continue to be the leader in our community for services and supports for people with developmental disabilities.

For forty-three years, The Arc has offered comprehensive services within Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park.

Due to generous community support, The Arc has been a forerunner in:

• residential services
• day care services
• vocational services
• recreational activities
• family support

The Arc is a membership organization that receives funding through donations. Donations and funding have been received from:

• private citizens
• local service clubs
• the Combined Federal Campaign
• United Way of the National Capital Area
• Prince William County Community Services Board
• Medicaid
• Prince William Park Authority
• Prince William County Board of County Supervisors
• Ronald McDonald House
• Knights of Virginia Assisting Citizens with Mental Retardation (KOVAR)
  And many others

Contributions and volunteers are needed and welcomed. Donations are tax deductible and a wide variety of volunteer activities offer rewarding opportunities for everyone.
